ecce pre-school scheme

In April 2009, the government announced the introduction of The Early Childhood Care & Education Scheme (ECCE). This scheme aims to provide one year of free pre-school education to every child in Ireland aged between 3 years 3 months and 4 years 6 months on 1st September each year. For those children who qualify the government will contribute €64.50 per week for 3 hours per day, 5 days per week over a 38 week period only. 

The scheme is due to commence on 1st January 2010 and children born on or between 2nd February 2005 and 30 June 2006 will be eligible to enter the scheme.
